editorial internship with modern luxury media.

what is comm386?

Students majoring in communication can sign up for a semester of Experiential Learning (Comm386). During this experience, students work 135 hours at a supervised internship with communication professionals. Students must be able to relate their academic training to professional experience.

During the Spring 2020 semester, I secured a position as an Editorial Intern at Modern Luxury Media, a national media company specializing in connecting luxury brands to affluent audiences. By participating in this internship, I was able to step outside the classroom and into the offices of the bustling urban hub, Washington, D.C.

Project Section: Enclosed is the main project that I worked on during my time at Modern Luxury, the production of Modern Luxury’s April edition of DC Magazine. I played an integral role by fact checking content, acquiring photos, writing stories, and more.

Productivity Section: My internship with Modern Luxury gave me the opportunity to create quality work samples. Much of what I did at Modern Luxury was writing short pieces, but it didn’t stop there. I had the opportunity to work on other skills like crafting email messages and developing radio scripts.
